CIRCLE STRAFING DESCRIBED

   DEFINED
Circle strafing: moving in a circle arround a target
while facing the target directly at all times.

   SETUP
Circle strafing is usually used with a mouse and keyboard
setup. Regardless of your type of controller, you must
have at least one button setup to 'strafe LEFT' and a
second button setup to 'strafe RIGHT' (notice these are
not just STRAFE, all three options are available in
   controller setup).

   HOW TO
To circle strafe, simply use the 'strafe LEFT' and the
'turn RIGHT' keys simultaneously. This will cause you to
strafe in a clockwise direction. To circle in the other
direction, of course, use 'strafe RIGHT' and 'turn LEFT'.
Mousers will want to slide the mouse right and left instead
of using the keyboard to turn.

OBJECTIVE
To practice these exercises untill you can circle strafe
within each of three ranges (defined by floor textures
in the map) and hit your opponent with a degree of accuracy.

USING KILL101.MAP
Turn on your cross-hair...you need a visual indication of
your aim. The map is a circlar with several smaller circles
inside each other. Your target (Duke) is in the center.
Weapons lay in a spiral inside each ring. Each hit will sound
a noise, cause duke to jib, and cry out in pain so you know
you scored a hit. Duke will also return an rpg when hit
just to make sure you aren't standing around like a bad boy!
Also, if you get far enough away from Duke a lighted target
will appear on his chest so you can clearly discern the target.

TUTORIAL EXERCISES

1) WITHOUT FIRING, circle strafe just inside the outter most
ring while trying to keep your cross-hairs directly on
your target. Do this until you feel you are keeping your
target in your sights well (about 75% of the time).

2) Circle in the outter most ring while firing the shotgun
or rpg (slow firing weapons) until you hit your opponent
with at least every other shot (50% accuracy or so).

3) Circle in the outter most ring while firing the pistol
or the chaingun (rapid firing weapons) until you are
   hitting your opponent almost continually.

4) Move up to the next closest circle and repeat 1-3.

5) Move up another circle and repeat 1-3.

6) Move into the closest circle and repeat 1-3.

7) Practice jumping a lot while circling. (Helps to foul up
   enemy aim.)

8) Practice jetpacking (use the 'dnstuff' cheat) up and down
while circling. Notice that if you look up and down the
automatic aiming doesn't work quite as well. You may want
to keep your view level and make sure your target is still
on your screen (don't go toooooo high) and the automatic
   aiming will help you!
