scroller text for each song

into the nothing (1/23):
cheers and welcome to chillosophy 3. my name is klaus, aka xerxes, and in alliance with imbusy (code) and mantraz (gfx) i shall pilot your journey through each and every one of the following 23 songs of this music disk. total runtime is one hour and twenty minutes, so i suggest you buckle up with proper amounts of cigarettes/candy and/or whatever tickles your fansy. before we get on with the songs themselves, let me discuss why i am back with more music after making my retirement official in chillosophy 2. the answer is not that complex; tracking kicks my ass too hard. and regardless of how well things are going commercially, i don't think i will ever be able to leave my tracker behind, making songs that are 200 kilobytes in size. what a geek i am. anyhow.. i am glad to be back with the biggest edition of chillosophy so far, which now racks up 63 songs and 3,5 hours of music. a big thanks to all of you who have supported these releases, and also, a big kiss to 4sceners.de who awarded chillosophy 5th place for best music disk in 2007. on with the music you are hearing...this first song, "into the nothing", introduces the general sound you are about to experience for the next 80 minutes. lots of pad work, lots of drum varations and at times, a bit harder sound then in earler editions of chillosophy. obviously, the focus on the melodic element is still there, but in a bit different format. i really hope you enjoy the disk. for more music by me, you can visit my website at www.xerxes-music.com -- sincerely, klaus . . . .

simple math (2/25)
music is math. if you wish to create complex musical arrangements, you almost need a doctorate within the field mathmatics. my math sucks a lot as i barely passed in high school and avoided it later in my education. hence my music is simple, like this little song . . . .

singular sines (3/25)
all sound comes from various waveforms treated in different ways. i've always been attracted to the sound whereas you can actually hear the waveform in play (such as chip music). in this song most sounds are basic chipsamples; waves, squares, sines etc . . . .

bent out of shape (4/25)
working a bit with a single vocal sample in this one, bending it out of shape. this means very little besides the fact that it is never once played how it was originally recorded. i like how this song has uplifting elements in the melody without losing any melancholy. hope you enjoy it as well . . . .

moonrider (5/25)
time to dirty it up a little, without forgetting all about the chillo sound. most of these sounds were taken of my access virus ti, downsampled and edited in modplug, then sequenced. a bit different style for me, but i think it works quite well . . . .

the upper hand (6/25)
one of my own personal favorites on this disk. the song is just so naked in every way. the drums lives one life, the melody another. it is like they're not friends at all, but by freak accident everything seems to work out well in the end . . . .

word number two (7/25)
it is the second word in any sentence that is the most important. ever notice how many times someone starts a sentence with one word, then gets stuck trying to complete the sentence. that's because they could not find a suitable word number two.........well, that was crap, but i had nothing to say about this song as i feel it's a bit of a bridge in the disk. moving along . . . .

x-flies (8/25)
clever wordplay. not really, it was a spelling mistake i never cared to fix. i like the song though. found a good atmosphere, and the bended/hollow drum sound really creates a nice texture to the percussive elements here. arps are flying all over the place, and you can just let yourself go with the song . . . .

spin around (9/25)
if you have a chance.. close the door behind you, lights off in the room, and close your eyes while listening to this. within a minute or so i get this spiraling effect in my mind.. would be interesting to know if anyone else gets this. try it and mail me! . . . .

dig deep (10/25)
drum and bass chillo styled. didn't really work too well, but it does have a certain oldskool flair i liked, and therefore it got included on the disk . . . .

fuk (11/25)
i started this song and got stuck really fast. work title was fuk which ofcourse is a mispelled version of "boobies". anyhow, i came up with the lead, added some drum stuff and violla; another track for chillosophy. i like it . . . .

not so soon (12/25)
oh how i love to use these oldskool tom'ish kinda drums, specially in a more ambient setting. not too much going on in this one, but the main theme and atmosphere works well in my opinion. has an epic/moviesque feel over it . . . .

indigo letters (13/25)
sometimes, while composing a tune, it feels like it is not you who is composing the melodies; that you are merely pointed in the right direction.. hard to explain exactly how to describe it, but the melody in this song feels like it was made, not by me, but by the song itself.

thematics (14/25)
things are picking up again here. it was a day for some fun bass experimentation, and it shows in the basslines. no need for fancy drums when the bassline makes everything flow well. layered arps and pads and some careful melodies on top makes this a typical chillosophy number . . . .

tick-lick (15/25)
pro-tracker style retro sound and lead in this one. i can't tell you enough how fun these kinds of tunes are to make, because they remind me of how life used to be when the only worry in life was having more heatbeat tunes than your neighbour . . . .

from the past (16/25)
one of the very very (only?) few songs i use a saxopone. i am usually not so thrilled with this instrument, but this one sounded cool when adding lots of vibrato and noteslide to it. the chordprogression that hits towards the end is some of the better stuff on this disk, i think . . . .

the hoax (17/25)
a hoax is basically a trick; someone being fooled into thinking something is one way, when in fact it is the other. fundamentally, this is one of the most important aspects of my music . . . .

old mrs nelly (18/25)
we're moving into the slower segment of the disk (if you are bored off your ass at this point, you may want to start listening to something else). this is 2 minuts of music, where everything is about the one transition at approxomately 1:10. if you do not like this, skip to next song. and in case anyone is still wondering, yes.. i love chip music of all kinds. i am just really bad at making them the traditional way . . . .

slow motion (19/25)
much filtered, very quiet, hard to get hold of, but when you do, you may enjoy this one. i would assume it takes a few listens to get a hang of it . . . .

corque screw (20/25)
so simple it can make children at the age 4 point fingers saying "damn that was too easy". but i like it. it is all about the chipped melody and its progression over 5 minutes. or rather, the atmospheric progression _over_ a melody. this is xerxes to the core, and a style i would like to do more of at some time.

timetravel (21/25)
perhaps the only real ambient piece on chillosophy 3. atmospheric pads, chipped leads, pitched basslines and an enormous amount of tracks - all combined with six minutes and thirty seconds of timetravel. hope it's worth it . . . .

supper is ready (22/25)
we're reaching the end, and the tracks i have chosen to represent it should hopefully make sense to you. this one has fun arps, and a really cool bass sample that sounds a little bit like a wet fart. gotta love that . . . .

windpipe (23/25)
slow paced dub/ambient with a wind/pipe type lead. mix that with some chipped pads and other snacks, and you have yourself another ultra xerxesish song. another one of my personal favorites this one..

lovely (24/25)
second to last song. it's been a lovely ride, and for those of you who have follwed us all the way here, i can only say thank you!
