US Update Infos: Been much talk about 'Donkey Kong Country' from Nintendo lately. This game was shown at the CES and has started quite a stir amongst Snes owners. The game is a collaboration between Nintendo and Rare with Rare supplying the SGI (Silicon Graphics) rendered graphics and Nintendo responsible for the programming. The game however is nothing but a platform game, with a few novelties here and there, but the graphics... well, they are just as good as could be expected from a Silicon Graphics workstation. Hopefully Nintendo (and others) will use this technology in future games, as the result is ahh so amazing! Other Impressive stuff from Nintendo included Wildtrax (the SFX game) and Super Punch Out which is a stunning conversion of the old classic 'Punch Out' on the NES. Also, Capcom is set to release a LARGE number of games on the Snes later this year, just check this lineup: Mega Man X part 2, X-Men, Demon's Crest Minnie Mouse, Captain Commando and more. Well, what can I say... Captain Commando and X-Men are both from the Arcades, and Demon's Crest is a Snes version of the Gameboy game Gargoyle's Quest, which leaves Minnie Mouse and Mega Man X part 2, yep... you figure them out. And to end the update info, Nintendo is releasing 2 new games for the Snes utilizing a 24-bit graphics chip, which will be inside the cartridge same as the super FX chip is. The question is, 'HOW DO WE COPY IT!?' Well, if there will be more games using this new 24-bit chip then the guys at Front Far East have better come up with a solution, because a Snes game with a 24-bit graphics chip could be really amazing. Hopefully this chip will give the Snes a higher resolution, which it really needs and also that this resolution will be appliable on the sprites. Which are the two games? Sorry, Nintendo are being (as usual) very tightlipped on that question... Let's just hope one of them isn't Mario, right!?
