1.0 Version

    1.0

1.1 System Requirements

Supported OS: Redhat 7.1 and SuSE 7.2
Minimum requirement: At least 16 MB RAM and Approx 40 MB
free space on the installation file system.
Recommended internet connection is 28,800 bps modem or higher.

1.2 Package Structure

The Redhat Linux installation is packaged in an rpm
( Redhat Package Manager ) format. The SuSE Installation
of Linux also supports packaging in an rpm format.

The Compaq Interconnect Switch Configuration Software
is divided into features and each feature is
    packaged into a single rpm.

To provide the user option to selectively install
necessary features, an umbrella install script is
provided to get the user choices and accordingly
    install the required features.

A similar uninstall script is also provided which
helps the user to identify packages already
installed on the system and remove all of them.
However, selective uninstallation can only be
done manually through the "rpm -e" command as
indicated when the user runs the uninstall script.

1.3 Features and Package names

The features supplied as packages are listed as
follows along with the corresponding rpm package
    names:

    under the following path

For Ex:, the E-Class C-GbE installation will have the directory
 		structure as follows

    /usr/local/Compaq/Interconnect_Switch/eCGbE/Help

1.4 Package Dependencies

The Switch Configuration Tools Feature depends on the
standard SNMP tools package provided with The Standard
Redhat or SuSE Installation CD as appropriate. For Redhat
Installations, thenames of the dependent packages are as follows.

    ucd-snmp
    ucd-snmp-utils

For SuSE Installations, the names of the dependent
    packages are as follows

    ucdsnmp

Please ensure that the appropriate packages are present on the
system for the tools feature to be installed. Any version of
these packages can be present on the target system.

If these packages are not present on the system and the
user tries to install the Switch Configuration Tools
feature, the following error will be displayed on Redhat
    Systems

    error: failed dependencies:
        ucd-snmp is needed by Compaq_Switch_Config_Tools-<version>-1
        ucd-snmp-utils is needed by Compaq_Switch_Config_Tools-<version>-1

On SuSE Installations, the following error will be displayed

    error: failed dependencies:
	ucdsnmp is needed by Compaq_Switch_Config_Tools-<version>-1

1.5 How to Install

If the user is installing this package through an installation CD,
Based on the information on the CD, the user should have navigated
to the appropriate directory where all the rpm packages and install
    scripts are present.

If the user is installing this package through the standard Compaq
softpaq web update mechanism, all the necessary install scripts and
the rpm packages will be extracted from the softpaq into your current
directory. Follow the instructions provided as a part of the
softpaq text file ( spnnnnn.txt ) where nnnnn is the softpaq number.

To start installation, please run the following command:

    ./install.sh

This script pops up self explanatory messages which
will guide the user through the installation process

1.6 How to Uninstall

Once the installation is complete, a script called
cpquninstall.sh is copied on to /usr/local/bin. To
uninstall, please run this script as follows:

    /usr/local/bin/cpquninstall.sh

Again self-explanatory messages are popped up to guide
    the user through the uninstallation.

1.7 Running the Compaq Interconnect Switch Management Tool

To run the Compaq Interconnect Switch Management Tool,
please ensure that you have installed the Switch
Configuration Tools feature on your target machine.
Please look at the Readme on this feature ( as mentioned
in the Section on features and package names ) to get
    more details.

The commands to run the Compaq Interconnect Switch Management
    Tool are as follows:

    cd /usr/local/Compaq/Interconnect_Switch/bin
    ./cpqswcfg -q -y

Optionally, this command can be run from anywhere as follows

    /usr/local/Compaq/Interconnect_Switch/bin/cpqswcfg -q -y

This will query all the user inputs interactively and
use SNMP to talk to the switch and configure accordingly.

Please note that only the user "Root" has the privilege to
run this command and configure the switch.

To get an overview of options supported, enter one of
    the following commands:

    ./cpqswcfg -help
    ./cpqswcfg -?
