We accept payment in POUNDS STERLING, cash, postal orders or cheques made payable to 'A. DAVIS' please. The Alchemist Research group: 1) ALCHNEWS, the popular and long running Spectrum tape and disk magazine, which has one of the largest magazine circulations in the Spectrum community, being distributed by Alchemist Research, registered quality companies and many other dedicated "Specateers"! AlchNews incorporates newsletters and folded fanzines of the past, including SARUG, SINCLAIR NEWS, 1982 and has rights to republish the INPUT series of magazines. We have a wide variety of writers and programmers helping in the production of the magazine, all of which are happy to help out with any problems. It costs one pound for tape, 3.5" or 5.25" disk which includes all costs. Or, to make it even more value for money, it can be obtained FREE if an SAE and media is sent. AlchNews features many sections, including news, reviews, the best in PD reviews and tutorials, in depth articles, hardware, projects, specialist articles and free ads for honest and reputable traders. We cover the +D & +3 disk systems in great deal and feature information on DOS bugs and fixes, all supplied free on request, thanks to Miles Kinloch and "Miktor". There is a subscription package available for only œ5 for tape & disk (not 3") which comprises of a years supply of AlchNews and the newsletters, latest PD catalogue and regular updates, plus discounts to other companies and dozens of free PD credits! 2) ALCHEMIST PD. The largest Spectrum PD library in existence. Our prices are just 2 pounds for 15 titles. We are the ONLY library to offer totally free small orders to each customer, with no purchases necessary or hidden clauses. We also do compilation tapes and disks of +D utilities, +3 utilities, Microdrive utilities, games, music (Soundtracker and many unreleased song files) which are only ONE POUND, inclusive of media and postage costs. We are the only AUTHORISED group to feature titles from UK demo coders Triad Developments and The United Minds. Alchemist PD stocks only quality and value for money titles and no adult or illegal software, unlike less reputable Public Domain Libraries. We also currently stock a large range of adventures. These are free of charge, along with programs written by Dominic Morris, Chris Taylor and Mark "Miktor" Harris plus many more. Charges have been drastically reduced from 1994 and we envisage to make all PD software orders free of charge. Alchemist PD has thousands of PD programs, covering all tastes of the Spectrum, many of which are available ONLY from us. We also get all the best imports from across the world FIRST. To see what Alchemist PD has to offer, we supply a large A4 detailed catalogue of all our titles, ordering instructions and information on contributing, free titles, special offers etc. This catalogue is 40p (refundable with subsequent order). At time of this newsletter, Alchemist PD released 3000 titles from an archive of 5000! Alchemist PD also supports the only other REPUTABLE Spectrum library in the UK, MGPD. 3) ALCHEMIST SOFTWARE: The non-PD arm of Alchemist Research. We urge program writers to put their software into this business so other groups cannot abuse their work. Alchemist software is sold for the price of media and postage (and, where relevant, programmer's royalty) only. Some of our many titles include the 007 DISASSEMBLER & SPY, the Dot Matrix printer driver program, DUMPY, Buttercraft Software, CCS Software and Marshall Cavendish software, adventure games plus programs from some of the UK's finest demo coders. 4) HELPLINE SERVICE, where all Spectrum related problems try to be solved. Problems can be sent via post or telephone. Thanks to our helpers, we have already found and cured several bugs in the +D DOSses and new commands have also been added. We have also done one or two projects to take advantage of the 128k keypad port and do +D conversions of your personal or commercial programs, if you want to sell your games on media you cannot support. We do not forget the +3 and have successfully fitted an external drive and had some special software written for it. We can also aid in tracking down elusive pieces of hardware and software and have a record of customers with large collections of Spectrum equipment for sale. 5) ALCHEMIST CP/M: A CP/M user group, primarily for the Spectrum +3 computer. We have a wide selection of software volumes available, on any sized disk media. Many of our AlchNews writers are also experimenting with CP/M and regularly feature their results and progress in their articles. 6) STAR USERS CLUB: A club aimed at Spectrum owners of Star printers. We collect and offer free advice, hints, tips and software for all. The club has a regular column in "AlchNews" magazine and has the official recognition of Star Micronics UK. +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ALCHEMIST RESEARCH, 62 TITHE BARN LANE, WOODFIELD, SHEFFIELD.
