MCI-objects

The sound object is responsible for the reproduction of Wave and MIDI files and like Video objects, uses MCI. It supports MID, RMI and WAV.

With the video object you can play software videos via the operating system's MCI (Media Control Interface). The formats available depend on the installed MCI drivers. By default you can show AVI files in various compression formats. With additional drivers installed you can use the Quicktime or MPEG formats. NeoN StoryBook supports AVI, MOV, DAT. MPG and MPEG.

The Animation object lets you play animations in FLI and FLC formats.

Some drivers give you the option to simultaneously play sounds in the WAV format. StoryBook supports these drivers and lets you assign sounds to animations and videos. If the sound is shorter than the animation, the sound will automatically be repeated until the animation is finished.

MCI toolbars lets you control MCI objects (animations, CD-Audio, sound, video, etc). MCI actions include: start, stop, pause, continue, forward, backward, change media, and record. MCI toolbars are configurable.

CD-Audio objects also uses the MCI driver, but work differently than the other MCI based objects. The CD-Audio object reads the track list from the CD and (optionally) begins playing the track you select, continuing to play through the track list. CD-Audio objects are especially useful when you need excellent sound quality, long audio tracks, etc. during the presentation.
