This file lists possible demands you might have and how knm will help you
in the respective cases.

*** You are connected to the internet via modem, and you hate having to be
online while reading & writing news.

--> Add your favorite newsservers to knm and configure your newsreader to
get its news from localhost. Now, you can do the following:
    1. Connect to the internet
    2. In knm, contact all newsservers. This downloads all news you're
       interested in.
    3. Disconnect from the internet
    4. While being offline, you read and write news just like being online
    5. If you wrote any news, connect to the internet
    6. In knm, contact all newsservers. This forwards all the articles you
       wrote to the internet.
    7. Disconnect from the internet.

*** Your computer is part of a nice fixed network, but the mail servers happen
    to be down very often.

--> Add your mail servers as POP3 and SMTP servers to knm. Tell your users to
use your computer as mail servers. Issue the command "netcall -c"
frequently (i.e., on a unix system, make it a cron job).

This way, the users will always be able to contact "their" mail servers,
and the worst thing that could happen if the "real" mail servers are down
is a delay in delivering the mails.

*** You've built up a small local network and want to provide email and news
features for it, but the administration is too complicated.

--> Set up POP3, SMTP, and newsservers in knm (it's easy). Use the options
    menu to add local newsgroups.

*** You have access to several newsservers which hold the same groups, but
they are not very reliable. You'd like to be able to read the news present
on both servers without having to scroll through the duplicates. In
addition, you'd like your own articles to be posted to both servers.

--> Just define those newsservers in knm, knm will do the work automatically.
If you don't like the multiple posting feature, you can turn it off.

*** You're used to mailboxes instead of the internet and you'd like to use your
old ZConnect point software, but you don't want to miss the faster
internet email service and the choice of different newsservers.

--> Set up a ZConnect Gateway in knm and use the "netcall" script as a
bridge between your point software and knm.
