beta15 - released August 8, 1997 at 12:30am
-> re-did the file xfer routines. file xfers work %100 up and down. But
not from unix/linux shells. this is because transfers make sent characters
that unix/linux thinks is the telnet escape code (usually ^]) but with
non-unix clients, such as slip/cslip/ppp telnet clients, which is what most
people use for telnet anyway, file xfers work fully and fast. also be
sure your xfer protocols use fossil comms. some bbs programs like remoteaccess
do, and if yours doesnt I have included CEXYZ a X,Y, and ZModem protocol
package which supports fossil comms. please read the docs to this and dont
send me email asking me about it cuz i dont support this program. FDSZ
(FOSSIL DSZ) didnt seem to perform very well. maybe in NetModem/32 it will
   have built in protocols. ;)

beta14 - released August 3, 1997 at 7:30pm
-> starting compiling on a 486 because NetModem would experience lockups for
no appearant reason. Discovered Pentiums don't compile the x86 instruction
set correctly for some assembly routines. hopefully this will fix the
lockups. If not, oh well. :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta13 - released June 21, 1997 at 1:00pm
-> so many people had problems of b10-12 locking up. I thought I would try
and see if I could fix them. If not, oh well. :) Be sure to tell your bbs
software to toggle the DTR to hangup.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta12 - released June 7, 1997 at 1:30am
-> this will probably be the last version of 16bit netmodem. I am tired
of people not following instructions and then emailing me with thier
problems then i have to try and code around thier system problems. if
this version locks up on your system. then too bad. wait until netmodem/32.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta11 - released June 6, 1997 at 12:30am
-> Current version of NetModem is now FREEWARE! ignore all pricing info.
   NetModem/32 will NOT be freeware!
removed the 50 call limit until the final. fix minor bugs and uploads.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta10 - released June 2, 1997 at 1:00am
-> Downloads work %100, but will only be in the registered version.
If you are willing to deal with only downloads at the moment and would
like to register now, contact me EMail at drip@cris.com (1 Node only).
fixed the problem with doors locking up, you should have NO lockups now
because of ANY kind of doors that you have setup correctly. Still working
on file uploads as they are a little tricky. the FOSSIL driver now takes
less memory as %95 is in pure assembler and other parts are in inline code.
I am still optimizing the FOSSIL driver for even more speed. I am also
working on NetModem/32. I have not yet set registration prices for it yet.
When I start accepting registrations for NetModem registered users wont
will only have an upgrade fee of $5 (I may or may not have an upgrade fee)
This is because programming software and development kits, and such, are
so expensive that its crazy for a young person like me to be able to afford
a decent package. Again, I may or may NOT have an upgrade fee.

beta9 - released May 29, 1997 at 11:30pm
-> Ice Doors lock up. Its the Ice Software authors fault, I have traced it to it.
File transfers still do not fully work %100. I decided to release b9
because so many people begged me for it, and it would give me more
time to work on b10 with fully functional file xfers. Now compatible
with more BBS programs that can use a FOSSIL. I haven't tested PCBoard,
but i added some code which should help with it. If a BBS software does
not work, then EMail be the name and the problem its having. Your first
init string MUST be ATZH0| if it is not things will go wrong. You can
use ATH1 to take the server offline and ATH0 to go back online.
   Added FOSSIL Rev.5 Function 10h - Control C/K Checking & Enable/Disable
transmitter but it was hard to code this and control the I/O with it....
NetModem now works with Windows 3.11/3.x fixed some problems for Win3.1x.
changed the I/O routines for an improvment in speed. NetModem/32 may
not be able to use these routines, so I am not sure how its I/O speed
will turn out yet. fixed some problems that if 2 fossil drivers were
loaded they would clash even if they werent using the same com port.
thats now fixed. you may load NetFOSSIL and another FOSSIL driver as long
as they DON'T use the same com port. fix other small bugs in the
FOSSIL driver. fixed the problem of receiving junk strings on RING,
and CONNECT XXX messages. Added a new GUI. added support for CTS/RTS
hardware flow control and XOn/XOff software flow control.Added support for
Multiple RING's. it will RING 5 times, after that the server will display
"BBS not ready, try later". I was forced to re-add the Extended/Superset
FOSSIL functions because some BBS software use them to initialize, and
because of this I lowered the unregistered connection limit back to 50.
Sorry :( . Added support for COM ports 3-20 instead of 4-20 because some
software dont support com ports pass 4. Increased the FOSSIL TX/RX Buffer
sizes from 1024k to 2048k. Fixed major bug where charactors would be lost
coming from the BBS software to the FOSSIL because work was being done to
the buffers which made it not see new characters coming in. Used more
32Bit instructions and more Assembly where possible for speed. And other
fixes and small additions I may have forgotten. Added documentation.
NetModem now has a Web page at "www.cris.com/~drip". This version is
pretty close to final. If any bugs are reported I will fix them and
release b10 as the final, I am now accepting registrations for the 1
node version only, because Multi-Node versions are still in the works
and with the amount of coding they will require, I am sure it will have
its bugs/problems, not to mention how the speed will be I am not sure how
the server will handle 2 or 8 nodes. as of right now I dont plan on making
   a Multi-Node NetModem, but there will be a Multi-Node NetModem/32. The
reason for this is while NetModem uses alot of 32bit instructions its
still compiled in 16bit. so I dont know if it will be fast enough to
handle 8 nodes, 2 maybe but not 8. if enough people request I will make
a 2 node version of NetModem but the 8 node support will be in NetModem/32
and if NetModem/32 can handle it I will add more node support. The 2 node
version probably wont be as hard as the 8 node version. Hopefully I can
get it to run 8 nodes with-out ANY slowdown. So if you would like to
register the 1 Node contact me via EMail at drip@cris.com for registration
   information.

beta8 - released April 21, 1997 at 2:00am
-> fixed some fossil bugs, and the server lag bug, and changed
the GUI. %70 new code in the server. speed of netmodem server is about
%40 faster. and some other cool enhancements. You can now use 'X' to
   close the server...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta7 - released April 19, 1997 at 8:15pm
-> fixed a problem where current sockets would freeze if someone telneted
in and the BBS wasnt loaded.(Thanks E) The server now tells them to try
later. fixed freezing in the background problems. hopefully fixed problems
of intermail and frontdoor not be'ing able to read the connect string
as fast as netfossil sends it. and other fossil bugs. Also fixed problems
with Illusion BBS software. (Thanks voivode). Raised the unreg'd connect
   limit from 50 to 70...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta6 - released April 17, 1997 at 12:30am
-> fixed "Exit" bug on NetModem server, and a few more in the FOSSIL
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta5 - released April 16, 1997 at 9:00pm
-> worked more on the modem init emulation code. Now NetFOSSIL
accepts ANY AT command. Use ATZ to Init, or any other AT Command.
although they do nothing. And use ATA to answer, or AT....A (meaning
you can put any other commands in between as long as the last one is
   A) and it will answer. Also fixed bugs in the Server, and in the FOSSIL
and added more functions to the FOSSIL.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta 4 - released April 15, 1997 at 10:55pm
-> now works with Iniquity. I setup Iniquity and tested it myself.
fixed the modem initialization problems. only accepts ATA| and ATZ|.
   also fixed other bugs in the fossil. still working on the peekmessage();
funtion in the modem server, its lagging win95 slightly for some reason.
doenst lag on NT systems. i think its a bad routine in the win95 API
   (I am not surprised)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta3 - released April 14, 1997 at 4:40pm
-> fixed minor bug problems and fixed fossil function 03h
added the RING bit to function 03h, because Iniquity BBS seems to
use it. Hopefully fixed the problem of Iniquity hanging up. If not
   notify me right away...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta2 - released April 14, 1997 at 1:10am
-> hopefully fixed the problem with Iniquity BBS, and Illusion beta4 BBS.
and also fixed a couple of other bugs in the NetFOSSIL.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
beta1 - released April 13, 1997 at 10:36pm
-> First initial release of NetModem...
