                         Focus Tester 1.1 (freeware)

                             by John Augustine

You are browsing through a list, document, etc. looking for something
specific, but you don't see it. Your eyes scanned right over it, but it
didn't "register" in your mind. This is the basis for FT (Focus Tester).

FT generates 12 lines of random text and numbers. The object is to find
"JOHN" (always same pattern). Scan through each line quickly (not too fast)
starting at the top. If you scan too fast, you will not notice "JOHN". As
soon as you see "JOHN", press any key immediately. "JOHN" will be highlighted
and you will get a "score". A lower number is better. Do this several times
to get an idea of your average score. If you often get a score of "1" or "2",
you are "super human". A frequent score of "3" or "4" is very good.

   VERY IMPORTANT:

The scoring system was designed for scanning at the top line first. Since
it takes longer to find "JOHN" on the 10th line than the first line, the
scoring process is adjusted according to how many characters from the
beginning (top left), "JOHN" is located.

   PLEASE NOTE:

"JOHN" will never be "split" (always on one line).

There is a rare chance that the random generator may generate a "JOHN" in
the random characters, in addition to the "JOHN" that is placed in a line. I
have not seen this happen yet, but so you know, it can happen. In that rare
event, simply press Esc and start again.

Comments or suggestions are always welcomed.

                          John
