HP ScanJet Scanners - Buttons Do Not Work After Upgrading to Windows 2000

ISSUE: The scanner buttons are not functioning after upgrading to Windows 2000 from Windows 95, 98, and 98SE.

SOLUTION: Loading Microsoft (R) Client for Networks will correct this issue. To do this, follow the instructions listed below:

      1. Click Start.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select Network & Dial-up Connections.
      4. If the icon labeled Local Area Connection appears in the list, continue on to step #5. If the icon does not appear in the list, follow the instruction for "If Local Area Connection does not appear in the list."
      5. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon.
      6. Select the Networking tab.
      7. In the "Components checked are used by this connection:" box, verify that Client for Microsoft Networks appears in the list and is selected. If it is, you are done. If it does not appear in the list, continue on to step #8.
      8. If you are prompted to restart your computer, select Yes.
      9. Select Install, below the "Components checked are used by this connection:" box.
      10. Select Client and Add.
      11. In the Network Client window
      12. Select Client for Microsoft Networks and OK
      13. Select Close. (If you are prompted to restart your computer, Select Yes.)

If "Local Area Connection" does not appear in the list.

      1. Click Start.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select Network & Dial-up Connections.
      4. If Local Area Connection does not appear in the list, click the Make New Connection icon.
      5. This will launch a Network Connection Wizard
      6. Select Next and choose the default settings on the next four screens.
      7. Select Finish on the Completing the Network Connection Wizard screen.
      8. Select Cancel on the Connect Dial-up Connection screen. This will automatically install Microsoft Client for Networks.
