EBBS 128 v4.7

By

Mike Pugleise

Introduction:

EBBS 128 does not follow the grand tradition of all Commodore 128 BBS programs in being a rather large departure from the C64 version. Instead, Mike Pugleise chose to produce a program rather close to the original. This is not to say that there are not some very notable improvements: color/graphics being an obvious upgrade, the advantages of the C128's 80 column screen being another. The online games ability is both a blessing and a curse, being seperate programs that are small BBSs in themselves, and which require a reload of the BBS program to restore the user. If EBBS 128 stands above its peers in any area, it might be the Transfers area, where a fantastic selection of protocols has been implemented, and a large amount of information is saved for each file.

EBBS's Editor Screen.

The program, overall, leaves both the user and SysOp with a strong sense of its stability and simplicity. All of the primary features of a good BBS program are here, even if the implementation and interface is not far enough beyond the '64 version for the taste of this reviewer. The use of a custom, easy to read font gives EBBS it's characteristic differentiation within it's overwise very standard look-and-feel.
