1.0 Installing the S3 Savage4 Display Driver
------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: At present, the Windows operating system does not include
the correct display device driver for Savage4 based graphics
boards. Graphics boards which use the Savage4 include the SR9
       and Diamond Stealth 520 / 540.

For best results, install the display driver supplied with this
       README file.

---------------------------
Plug and Play installation:
---------------------------
After installing the SR9 or Diamond Stealth 520 / 540 board, Windows should
detect the new display device, and will prompt for the display driver location.

When prompted for the location of the display driver files, browse to the
Win9x directory on the display driver CDROM, or your local/network directory that
contains the driver files corresponding to your operating system. If
prompted, select the SAVAGE4.INF file and continue through the driver installation
status screens.

4.0 Troubleshooting
--------------------
Problem: DirectX games or applications are not working properly.
Solution: Make sure that DirectX 6.1 or later is installed. DirectX 6.1 is
included with the SR9 or Diamond Stealth 520 / 540 distribution CD-ROM in the
DirectX folder.

Problem: Sierra's Half-Life is not displaying any textures.
Solution: There is a compatibility issue with the Savage4 OpenGL support and
the latest upgrade patch for Sierra's Half-Life.

To resolve the problem:
 1. Launch the game as 'Half-Life Console'

 2. Access the in-game console, and type 'GL_Texsort 1'

The textures should now display correctly.
