Click Start and then click Control Panel. 3. Click Performance and Maintenance. 4. Click System. 5. Click the Hardware tab. 6. Click Device Manager. 7. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section. 8. Select SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. 9. Right-click SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio, and select Properties. 10. Click the Driver tab. 11. Click Driver Details. 12. Select C:\winnt\system32\drivers\ADIHDAud.sys, to display the version number, where C:\winnt is the location the OS is installed. (Confirm the last 4 digits are 5410) [Windows 2000] 1. Start Windows. 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click System. 4. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window for Windows 2000. 5. Click Device Manager. 6. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section. 7. Select SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. 8. Right-click SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio, and select Properties. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click Driver Details. 11. Select C:\winnt\system32\drivers\ADIHDAud.sys, to display the version number, where C:\winnt is the location the OS is installed. (Confirm the last 4 digits are 5410) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES Windows 2000 - It is required to install DirectX ver9.0C before Audio driver installation and SP4. - This High definition Audio driver require UAA bus driver of Microsoft. It is required to install UAA (Q888111) before Audio driver installation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Notes: If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section. Manual Install [Clean install] 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator for Windows 2000/XP. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. Click Finish and Reboot the system when prompted in order to complete the installation. [Upgrading or reinstall] Note: Remove any previously installed driver using the uninstall step in the next section. 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator for Windows 2000/XP. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 5. If the dialog box appears, select Reinstall or Update and then click Next. 6. Click Finish to reboot the system and complete the installation. Unattended Install This is for system administrators' use only. - Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files. - At the command line, execute SETUP.EXE with the -S -SMS options. Start Windows 2000/XP and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Depending on the operating system choose one of the following paths: a. If Windows XP, Click Start, then click Control Panel. b. If Windows 2000, Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 4. Click SoundMAX, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove). 5. Select Remove or OK, then click Next or OK. 6.
