What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the software support for the IBM ThinkPad
UltraNav Pointing Device for Windows 2000/XP.

This release supports the following systems:

  - ThinkPad T30(*1)

NOTES: 
*1: This package supports ThinkPad T30 UltraNav model only. Do not install
    this driver on the other systems.

The TrackPoint driver does not need to be installed on the UltraNav models.

 - (Fix) TrackPoint freezes after finishing Magnifying Glass test on
         the UltraNav Wizard.
 - (Fix) TrackPoint scrolling is cancelled on long ducumentation.
 - (Fix) TrackPoint scrolling causes an application error on Visual
         Studio if the window has a frame.
 - (Fix) TrackPoint freezes after upward scrolling with touch pad on
         MS Office applications.
 - (Fix) Touch pad scrolling does not work if Scroll item under pointer
         option is selected on the Scrolling Selection menu.
 - (Fix) Touch pad scrolling does not work if TrackPoint is set to Use
         advanced features only mode.


Installation instructions
-------------------------
NOTE: ThinkPad Software Installer provides install and uninstall wizard
      for this package.


Uninstall FOR Windows 2000:
 1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
 4. Select IBM ThinkPad UltraNav Driver.
 5. Click Change/Remove.
 6. Click OK.
 7. Click OK.
 8. Restart the system.


Uninstall for Windows XP:
 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start, select Settings,
    and then click Control Panel. Otherwise, click Start and then click 
    Control Panel.
 3. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.
 4. Select IBM ThinkPad UltraNav Driver.
 5. Click Change/Remove.
 6. Click OK.
 7. Click OK.
 8. Restart the system.


Install for Windows 2000/XP:
 1. Start Windows 2000/XP, and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Click Start and then click Run.
 3. Click the Browse button.
 4. Select the folder where IBM ThinkPad UltraNav Driver package is stored.
 5. Select Setup.exe.
 6. Click the Open button.
 7. Click OK.
 8. Select a language when Choose Setup Language popup panel appears,
    and click OK.
 9. Click Next.
10. Click Next.
11. Click Finish and restart the system.

Unattended install for Windows 2000/XP:
 This is for system administrators' use only.
 1. Start Windows 2000/XP, and logon with administrative privileges.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start and then click Run.
 4. Type "[Program Path]\setup -s -SMS" and click OK. [Program Path] is the
    full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2.


Determining which version is installed

Windows 2000:
 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click the Mouse icon.
 4. Click the Hardware tab on Mouse Properties.
 5. Click the Properties button.
 6. Click the Driver tab on IBM ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device
    Properties. Version information is shown in the Driver Version section.

Windows XP:
 1. Start Windows XP.
 2. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start, select Settings,
    and then click Control Panel. Otherwise, click Start and then click
    Control Panel.
 3. Double-click the Mouse icon.
 4. Click the Hardware tab on Mouse Properties.
 5. Click the Properties button.
 6. Click the Driver tab on IBM ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device
    Properties. Version information is shown in the Driver Version section.
